Frequently Asked Questions
Who may use this service?
Anyone. Anywhere. You don't need to have a Tacoma Public Library card.
What kind of questions can I ask?
This service is designed for specific questions about the history of Tacoma, the Puget Sound region and the Pacific Northwest. For answers to more complex questions, or research assistance in these areas, please visit the Main Library's Northwest Room and Special Collections.
When will my question be answered?
Library staff will do their best to answer your question, or suggest how you can further pursue your question, within 24 hours (one business day - excluding weekends and holidays). However, some questions may require more time. If clarification is needed about your question, the process may take a little longer.
How do I ask a question?
To help us answer your question correctly, please be as specific as possible in your request. Provide us with as many details as possible: who, what, where, when. Telling us WHY will also be very helpful (though it's not necessary). It is helpful to tell us if you have a deadline.
